The Reason for Everything - Day 7
Back to Full Blog

Point to Ponder:It's all for him.

Verse to Remember: Romans 11:36 (LB)

Question to Consider: Where in my daily routine can I become more aware of God's glory?

I had a hard time following what he meant by "God's glory" and "giving glory to God." I agreed with him that I give glory to God by woshipping him. I had trouble with the notion that I give him glory by loving other believers. I have gotten burned so many times by Christians I could be the poster child with Smokey the Bear for how to avoid fires. And yet this is a huge point. The rest of what he wrote in the chapter challenged me... and then the bull's eye that hit me on Sunday convicted me.

In church I've been feeling convicted... to get off the fringe and trust God to know what people he's put around me. I have to get out of my bubble. That's not enough though.I have to be willing and actively seeking relationships and this is hard for me. Being involved with people is messy. Feelings can get hurt. Communication can break down... but if done properly love can take root and grow. Warren says we give God glory by serving others. After years of never feeling like I fit in at any church that I attended or that I didn't have any talents or gifts to serve... I emailed the pastor's wife and told her that I'm a writer and would willingly write anything they needed. I was thinking bulletins or newsletters.

She wrote back and asked if I'd write dramas and skits to support the pastors messages. I'm floored. All these years of feeling like I had nothing to offer... when all I had to do... was offer. On that not? I can make time to see what God is doing, not just in my life but in the lives of others and write about it.

I'm new to blogstream ...I'm staying anonymous here too...but wanted you to know that I'm praying for you. 40 Day Purpose is fantastic.

Given my current journey, I should probably pull mine out.

Hi Notmeg,

Welcome to the blogstream and thank you for your prayers. Prayer is what keeps things moving forward in my life and it comforts me knowing that people are praying for my journey. Anybody can give unsolicited advice... but not everybody gives unsolicted prayer. Thank you.

If you do decide to pull out your copy of Purpose Driven Life, I'd love it if you shared your impressions of the daily Questions to Consider with me. I've had to learn the hard way that I can't make this journey all by myself and it helps to hear how others are doing and what they are thinking.

I've pulled it out.

Remember, if you read the stuff on my blogstream, a lot of what you see there isn't going to be positive. It's an anonymous blog with stuff that I don't want those who know me to see. It's secrets that I've kept ... things I'm trying to untangle. So if it seems unecessarily negative ...that's why ...that's why it's in the Therapy section. My regular blog isn't nearly as negative! Nor, am I. ;)
Just needed a place to get some negative experiences outside of my brain.

Hi Notmeg...

I've definitely gone through my own "unnecessarily negative" periods. Untangling my thoughts? I like thinking of it that way. I'll borrow that term every now and again if you don't mind. I'm sorry that your thoughts are still so tangled up but I understand the need to get them out of your head. "Getting it off your chest," confession, untangling your stuff... whatever you want to call it, it's good and healthy. If it helps you deal with your waking world then it's all the better. Wishing you peace!

I know people have done the "Purpose Driven Life" as a thing with whole congregations but you've done it to share with others. I hope you enjoy it and others do too...

Hi Rosie...

I guess I never thought of what I decided to do with this blog was sharing with others... but now that you put it that way... THANKS. I hope other people who are reading, have read, or might read the book will feel free to chime in on there thoughts on that section. I'm still playing catch up (I'm really on Day 11) but I find that I'm really excited and eager to get this out there. Have you read the book? If so, I'd love to hear your thoughts on any of the days I've done so far.
